The trip, in short

Around 100,000 labourers and 12,000 Allied prisoners died building the Burma Railway. The bridge at Kanchanaburi is the famous fragment, but the section of line at Tham Krasae — a wooden trestle bolted to a cliff above the river — is the part that stays with people.

We ride that stretch by train, visit the Allied war cemetery, and give you the afternoon at Erawan Falls, where seven limestone tiers step up through the forest and the water really is that colour.

It is a fourteen-hour day door to door. We think it is worth it, and we would rather you knew the length in advance.

  • The Bridge on the River Kwai, walked across

Meeting point

Your hotel lobby in central Bangkok.

Pick-up area: Central Bangkok hotels. We message your exact pick-up window the evening before, with the driver's name and vehicle.

Before you book

  • Tiers six and seven at Erawan are a steep, root-strewn scramble. Tiers one to five are easy.
  • No plastic bottles past tier two — the park confiscates them at a checkpoint and refunds a deposit on the way out.
  • The fish in the pools nibble. It is harmless and slightly alarming.
  • A 06:00 pick-up and a return after 20:00. Not the day to book before an early flight.

We contract for this service as principal — it is operated by us, or by a local supplier engaged by us in our own name in Thailand. Your contract is with us, not with the driver, guide, captain or boat operator, and we carry the obligation to deliver it as described.

This service is performed in Thailand, by our Bangkok operation. Access Transit Express, registered in Indonesia, is the merchant of record for the payment: the charge, the invoice and any refund come from us, and your statement reads ACCESSTRANSITEXPRESS.
