James Bond Island & Phang Nga sea-cave canoeing
The trip, in short
Phang Nga Bay is a drowned karst landscape: a hundred-odd limestone towers rising straight out of shallow green water, many of them hollow. The hollow ones are the point.
A guide paddles you in a two-person canoe through cave mouths that at some tides are barely a metre high, into enclosed lagoons — hongs — with their own mangrove forests and, usually, complete silence.
Ko Tapu, the James Bond rock, is the photograph everyone comes for. It is busy and it is still worth twenty minutes. The hongs are what you will remember.

Before you book
- National park fees are included in the price shown — you will not be asked for cash at the pier.
- You do not paddle yourself — a guide paddles each canoe, one or two guests at a time.
- Cave entrances close at high tide; the order of the day shifts with the tide table and your guide will explain it on board.
- Bring a dry bag. Phones get wet in the canoes.
